Vienna Central European Seminar on Particle Physics and Quantum Field Theory

The eigth Vienna Central European Seminar on Particle Physics and Quantum Field Theory took place at the Faculty of Physics of the University of Vienna, Boltzmanngasse 5, A-1090 Vienna, from Friday November 25 to Sunday November 27, 2011. This year, Particle Physics and the LHC, has been chosen as subject.

Erwin Schrödinger Visiting Scientist 2011

Dr. Georg Raffelt, Max Planck Institut für Physik München,was this year's Erwin-Schrödinger guest professor.

Regular Seminar on particle physics

Weekly seminars on particle physics take place at the Erwin Schrödinger lecture hall, Boltzmanngasse 5, 5th floor on Thursday at 14:15.

Particle Physics at BeSt³

As every year the University of Vienna presents itself from March 3^rd -6^th 2011 at the BeSt³ (http://www.bestinfo.at) in the Viennese Stadthalle. The "Street of the University of Vienna" is on the gallery north.Besides information desks with personal consultation <A[consultation|discussion]> for different studies there is also a lecture hall.

There you can inform yourselves about studyingphysics at March 3^rd at 12:30 at a lecture of Prof. Andre Hoang and Prof. Martin Hopf and gain small insight into the fascinating research of the elementary particle physics exemplary for the numerous researcher groups at the Faculty of Physics.

Prof. André Hoang new member of the working group

We are very pleased to announce that on September 22, 2010, André H. Hoang started as a Professor of Theoretical Physics (Particle and Astroparticle Physics).

Prof. Hoang, who joins us coming from the Max-Planck-Iinstitute for Physics in Munich, works on quantum field theoretical and phenomenological aspects of particle physics.

We cordially welcome our new colleague at our Faculty.

Prof. Andrzej Buras, TU München, was this years Erwin Schrödinger Visiting Scientist. He held four lectures in october and november 2010 on the topics "An excursion to the attouniverse" (pdf) und "Minimal flavour violation and beyond" (I, II, III; pdf) gehalten.
